Permaculture Design-Introduction Course 1

PART I OF PERMACULTURE DESIGN SERIES
If you’re into Crypto’s and SteemIt, it’s not too far off from Permaculture, same principles of becoming decentralized; except Permaculture is ‘decentralizing’ from the ‘grid’ so to speak. It uses common sense applications to gardening, water, and our most basic needs.

EXAMPLE FOR THOSE COMPLETELY NEW TO PERMACULTURE
You have pigs...
You have an Apple Orchard...

You fence in the pigs underneath the Apple Orchard, the apples that fall on the ground (anything that falls from tress to the ground is called mast) feed the pigs instead of rotting, and you feed your pigs (this is called pannage-pannage is the process of yielding of your mast). You can rotate the pigs as well so that the ground is not destroyed with having a constant pig pen there. Makes sense right? This is why I LOVE Permaculture Design!

WHERE DID I GET THE INFO?
In short, the information I am providing in this series is pulled from the teaching of Bill Mollison, creator of the Permaculture Design Concepts and Principles as well as the word itself. He is the go-to for all things Permaculture.

WHY IS PROVIDING THIS ON STEEMIT IMPORTANT?
If you are a Permaculture enthusiast like myself you have seen all of the ‘paid’ Design courses out there. If you are also like me then you have said ‘F’ all that noise.

This is my way of providing as much of that information for our SteemIt community to enjoy for free. Yes, there are video’s on YouTube as well, but I am focused on the ‘meat and potatoes’ info; and to share the most concise and important principles while hopefully learn from others.

DEFINITION OF PERMACULTURE:
A conscious design of agriculturally productive ecosystems that have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. Root Words: Permanence: To persist throughout, indefinitely | Culture: Practices that support human occupation of the earth
(Created and copyrighted by Bill Mollison in 1974)

Here is a diagram of how Permaculture is functionally applied and exists:

I'm going to bring this 1st series to a close, next post will dive more into the principles of design. I'll leave you with this definition of sustainability...

Something that over it's lifetime produces enough energy to maintain and duplicate itself

Sounds like STEEM doesn't it! Ha! Have a great day everyone and hope you enjoyed this post!

Great connection your making, putting cryptos and permaculture together like this. Under the permaculture definition it appears that's where it belongs anyway or at least it could. I mean its all about decentralized sustainable practices right, that's what blockchain is getting ready to deliver us I believe.

Exactly! It feels like we are part of a great and much needed change!

I definitely agree and you know what they say "be the change you want to see".
