Peruvian Women's Minister called on women not to agree to meet with their ex-partner on their own!
A young woman who was burned alive on a public road by her hidden ex-boyfriend died, after a dispute that lasted five days, according to what the Peruvian Minister of Women announced, Friday, condemning the slow pace of investigations aimed at arresting him.
Last Saturday, 18-year-old Kathryn Gomis was admitted to the hospital's emergency department with burns covering more than 60% of her body.
Minister Nancy Tolentino said in televised statements, "She fought to survive, but unfortunately, the amount of physical harm that affected her did not allow doctors to save her life, and we were informed of her death."
According to the police, the perpetrator of the crime is a Venezuelan at the age of nineteen who fled after burning the victim alive after spraying it with petrol near the famous May 2nd Square in the capital.
The young woman had decided, days before the crime, to end her relationship with the perpetrator.
Tolentino criticized the delay in issuing an arrest warrant against the suspect until Thursday, five days after the crime. "The police promised me they would do their best to catch him," she said.
The Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations called on women who "terminated the relationship" with their partners not to agree to meet with the ex-partner on their own.
She said, "Do not meet alone when you want to end the relationship with a violent person, and do not believe him when he says, but (Let's talk to explain my position to you)."
