Some of you remember PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER for PS2, I guess you do because it is one of the most important titles of that console, which marked a whole generation and I include myself.
Speaking more specifically of PES, either from 2006 to 2014 or the many patches for PC that are still being released today, I have to say that it is my favorite game in history, and I can say for sure that no game I play will take its place in the number 1 position. PES was great, it stood out for its graphic engine and its durability that for the time was something innovative, and beyond that it educated us about soccer either to continue playing the soccer games of the present and to understand the sport in general.
I remember that my first approach was with winning eleven 02 for PS1, I spent very good times, it was something wonderful. winning eleven 02 was very good but had many things to improve, for example when pressing L1+X I automatically made a wall which gave a lot of advantage and even playing at the highest difficulty you could win easily or even being in that high difficulty the CPU committed a lot of fouls which in the long run made many players of the rival team to be expelled, of course the most painful thing was that they also injured my most important players.
All this changed with the arrival of PES, the difficulty had increased, graphically being next gen the graphics were logically better, the narration, the stadiums, balls, tactics and chants were brutal. When you were going to start a game and you saw the exit from the tunnel you could feel the nerves and shiver of emotion.
I reached a point where I was playing just to play and I didn't know what else to do until I found a legendary game mode, MASTER LEAGUE, what can I say.... this game mode had everything, it could handle a lot of aspects that a team has, from finances to sports, a bad economic development could lead you to red numbers and therefore to the bankruptcy, if that happened it was the end of your MASTER LEAGUE, as the seasons go by and you achieve goals the squad becomes more valuable and the cost to keep those players is higher, so sometimes without you wanting to you had to sell some jewel to not go bankrupt.
if you used to feel nervous about a friendly game now imagine being in the 2nd division and playing for your life to be promoted to 1st division, without half of your squad because many of them were fatigued, injured or expelled, just imagine it, you are in the 3rd position of the table and you have to play against the 1st at home and you have to face the game with a lot of substitutes, it is the last game of the season, winning that game takes you to the 1st division, your hands start to sweat because you know what it means to stay one more year in 2nd division, you have to go out to win and you tell yourself that there is no other option, and when the game starts you are in the tunnels and the players come out to the field, literally your hair stands on end.

After a few shots from both sides that came to nothing, it was not until 74' that Shakhtar attacked with great danger, they developed the game on the right flank and the fullback projected himself on that flank, managed to reach the back line easily and send the cross, which in turn fell to the left back, shakhtar's coach notices that PES united when playing (3-5-2) leaves a lot of space on the flanks to attack, that's where he starts to project much more the fullbacks, all PES united is defending, the left back sends a cross to the box which is cleared to the center by VALENY, a shakhtar player fails to control the ball well and it falls to ORDAZ who pivots for a moment for the inside players to pass to the counter attack, he gives the ball to MINANDA who sees how ESPIMAS passes like an arrow on the right and gives the ball to him, a defender comes out to ESPIMAS and makes a wonderful play making a self-pass and leaving the defender behind, it is perhaps one of the best plays of the match, his handling goes more towards the center and it is when CASTOLO makes a diagonal to the space and MINANDA sends him the filtered pass, the defender of shakthar did not expect it and CASTOLO is with the goalkeeper one on one, this is the opportunity he had always been waiting for, the goalkeeper comes out to duck and CASTOLO shoots over the goalkeeper and...¡GOOOOOOAAAAAAALL! With seconds to go, PES united looks to win and throws the whole team forward, after a powerful shot by MINANDA the goalkeeper sends the ball to the corner kick, OH LOOK AT THAT, IVAROV goes down to head the ball. the PES united goalkeeper is already 34 years old and knows well that this may be his last chance to play in the 1st division. MINANDA is going to take the corner kick, the crowd is nervous, many are crying, others are praying, some others are turning their backs to the play because their nerves don't allow them to see. There goes MINANDA hits the ball with his exquisite technique, the ball goes to half height and at great speed, CASTOLO combs it and DODO appears to head it, where did that guy come from, the shot goes to the goal and one of the Shakhtar defenders clears very badly, the ball is at the feet of a PES united player, we can't see who it is because of the large number of players in the small area. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, IT'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL UNBELIEVABLE, IT'S THE BEST GAME OF THE SEASON, PES UNITED IS IN THE 1ST DIVISION, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS HISTORY, SOCCER IS MAGNIFICENT! wooo wait a second, they tell us that there is a player lying on the field crying, yes, it's the author of the historical goal... THEY CONFIRM THAT THE PLAYER IS IVAROV. He is definitely our player of the match.
I did not always watch the games in this intense way, but when I felt bad emotionally for some reason, I took refuge in the excitement that let me play a game with that intensity and imagination, at the end of that game time everything that made me feel bad disappeared, I'm sure more than one will say I'm crazy but it was a good stage.
ANECDOTE
The disc was always scratched, I used it too much, it had a life of about 3 weeks until the game started to stick to me, my mother always gave me to buy the game but there came a point where I knew I should not do it anymore. One day I woke up in the afternoon I turned on the console and the game did not pass the konami, it's silly but I left in tears hahaha, many acquaintances had the game, me went to their homes to borrow it and they did not, obviously since I started playing it my ability to deal with people was decreasing and I didn't know how to face a conversation to convince them to lend it to me and besides they were not obliged to do it, I had lost a lot of contact with them, in 2009 covid-19 didn't exist but me I lived as if we were in the heyday of it. I was frustrated because I could not play and I had a pretty high anxiety level, one day I was sent to the super market to buy cheese for the arepas and when I arrive I see that there are some guys behind the box putting the products in bags and they left them tips for doing that, I literally forgot the errand, I put myself in another box to bag. A game at that time cost 10000.Bs and me in a week I got around 740,000.Bs, that was insane for me haha I bought 4 games, 3 PES and the other game I can't remember, but I think it was NFS U2. The rest of the money I gave it over to my mother, I wasn't interested in buying anything else with that money, that was my mentality at 13 years old, while others were passionate about more interesting and ambitious things, there was no one who could get me out of my room.
CONCLUSION:
When you play and see PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER as real as I saw it, the game stops being a game and becomes an obsession.
This game caused me to abandon my studies, to have problems with my mother, to stop going to play with my friends and basically to socialize much less, this is my story with PES, but it also left me many other very positive things. at the end of the story the negative things were solved one by one, and only the positive ones remained 😊.
I hope you enjoyed this title and this post, because I did it with love and also with some sorrow, we never know what others may think. Algunos de ustedes recuerdan el PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER de PS2?, supongo que sí porque es uno de los títulos más importantes de esa consola, la cual marco a toda una generación y me incluyo.
Hablando más específicamente de PES, ya sea desde el 2006 hasta el 2014 o los muchos parches para PC que a día de hoy siguen saliendo, tengo que decir que es mi juego favorito en la historia, y puedo dar certeza que ningún juego al que juegue le quitara su lugar en el puesto número 1. PES fue grandioso, destaco por su motor gráfico y su durabilidad que para la época era algo innovador, y más allá de eso nos educó sobre el fútbol ya sea para seguir jugando los juegos de fútbol del presente y entender el deporte en general.
Recuerdo que mi primer acercamiento fue con winning eleven 02 para PS1, pase muy buenos ratos, fue algo maravillo. winning eleven 02 era muy bueno pero tenía muchas cosas que mejorar, por ejemplo al apretar L1+X hacia una pared automáticamente cosa que daba mucho ventaja y incluso jugando a la dificultad más alta lograbas ganar de manera fácil o incluso estando en esa dificultad tan alta la CPU cometía una gran cantidad de falta lo que a la larga hacia que muchos jugadores del equipo rival fueran expulsados, claro está que lo más me dolía era que también me lesionaban a mis jugadores más importantes.
Todo lo anterior cambio con la llegada de PES, la dificultad había aumentado, gráficamente al ser next gen los gráficos eran mejores lógicamente, la narración, los estadios, balones, táctica y los cánticos eran brutales. Cuando ibas a empezar un encuentro y veías la salida desde el túnel podías sentir los nervios y escalofrió de la emoción.
llegue un punto en el que jugaba por jugar y no sabía que más hacer hasta que di con un modo de juego legendario, LIGA MASTER, que te puedo decir... este modo de juego tenia de todo, podía manejar una gran cantidad de aspectos que tiene un equipo, desde las finanzas hasta lo deportivo, un mal desarrollo económico podía llevarte a números rojos y por ende a la banca rota, si eso ocurría era el fin de tu LIGA MASTER, a medida que pasan las temporadas y vas logrando metas la plantilla se va volviendo más valiosa y el costo por mantener esos jugadores es mayor, por lo que a veces sin tu quererlo tenías que vender alguna joya para no ir a la quiebra.
si antes sentía nervios por un amistoso ahora estando en LIGA MASTER los nervios era mucho mas fuertes. imagínate estando en 2da división y jugándote la vida para ascender a 1ra, sin la mitad de tu plantel porque muchos estaban fatigados, lesionados o expulsados, como me ocurrio una vez. solo imagínatelo, estas en la 3ra posición de la tabla y te toca jugar contra el 1ro de local y tienes que afrontar el partido con muchos suplentes, es el último partido de la temporada, ganar ese partido te lleva a la 1ra división, las manos te empiezan a sudar porque sabes lo que significa permanecer un año más en 2da, tienes que salir a ganar y te dices a ti mismo que no hay otra opción, va iniciar el encuentro están en los túneles y salen los jugadores al terreno, literalmente tu pelos se erizan.
EL PARTIDO

13': Tiene el balón el mediocampista ofensivo rival que logra mandar un pase entre línea al extremo izquierdo que hace un desmarque de ruptura hermoso, es mucho más veloz que mi central derecho VALENY y logra llegar al pase, VALENY hace lo que puede por alcanzarlo, pero el extremo es mucho más rápido, el extremo casi en soledad le da tiempo de pensar a donde va tirar el centro y de sincronizarse con el delantero, el delantero por su parte hace un sprint corto al vacío y atrae la marca de los 2 centrales dejando el borde del área sin marcas, justo en ese momento el extremo ve al mediocampista que le hizo el pase acercarse al borde del área, cambia de opinión y decide mandar el centro atrás, el mediocampista recibe al borde del área y sin pensarlo dos veces remata a portería clavándola en el Angulo GOOOOOOAALLLL!, nada que hacer para IVAROV que ve como rompen las redes y sus sueños de subir a 1ra se desvanecen.
27': Después de una larga posesión por parte del shakhtar DODO logra robar el balón, por vista periférica ve a LOUGA y cómo puede se la da, LOUGA abre el juego a la banda con XIMELEZ, GUTIERREZ sube a ofrecerse como opción de pase, XIMELEZ lo ve y se la da, GUTIERREZ recibe y ve que XIMELEZ va a toda velocidad a línea de fondo y le devuelve la pared, XIMELEZ recibe y manda el centro al punto penal donde ORDAZ se anticipa a los defensores y impacta de cabeza, la pelota pega en el travesaño y sale de la cancha.
Pasan los minutos y el shakhtar se repliega y cede el balón a PES united que no sabe qué hacer con él, manejan la posesión pero no elaboran oportunidades claras, el 1er tiempo va acabando sin pena ni gloria cuando en una salida desde atrás JARIC se equivoca en el pase a STREAMER y el extremo brasileño del shakhtar roba el balón, ve a IVAROV adelantado y busca sorprenderlo con un remate por encima de su humanidad, IVAROV se ve sorprendido como puede se devuelve, el remate lo toma a contrapié, justo en ese momento recuerda lo mucho que han trabajado para llegar al punto en el que están y saca fuerza para reponerse y lanzarse, como puede roza el balón desviándolo al punto en el que pega del travesaño rebota y le cae en los pies al delantero ucraniano del shakthar que se la saca de encima como disparando mordido al arco, IVAROV esta abatido y es imposible para el detener el balón... PERO ENTONCES APARECE JARIC CON UNA BARRIDA SALVADORA MANDANDO EL BALON AL CORNERS UFFFF, el central se redime y se disculpa con sus compañeros por el error. Con esa acción acaba el 1er tiempo.
2DO TIEMPO:
Entra CASTOLO por GUTIERREZ y MINANDA por STEIN.
Con la incorporación de MINANDA el equipo maneja mucho más y mejor la tenencia del balón, es un jugador con mucho talento para distribuir el juego. Tras algunos remates de lado y lado que no llegan a nada es hasta el 74' que el shakhtar ataca con mucho peligro, desarrollan el juego por la banda derecha y el lateral por esa banda se proyecta, logra llegar fácil a línea de fondo y mandar el centro, que a su vez en muy pasado, le termina cayendo al lateral izquierdo, el técnico del shakhtar nota que PES united al jugar (3-5-2) deja mucho espacios en las bandas donde atacar, es donde empieza a proyectar mucho más los laterales, todo PES united está defendiendo, el lateral izquierdo manda un centro al área que es que es despejado al centro por VALENY, un jugador del shakhtar no logra dominar bien el balón y le cae a ORDAZ que pivotea por un momento para que los interiores pasen al contraataque, le sede el balón a MINANDA que ve como ESPIMAS pasa como una flecha por la derecha y la da el balón, le sale un defensor a ESPIMAS y hace una maravillosa jugada haciendo un autopase y dejando atrás al defensor, es tal vez una de las mejores jugadas del partido, su manejo va más hacia el centro y es cuando CASTOLO hace una diagonal al espacio y MINANDA le manda el pase filtrado, el defensor del shakthar no se lo esperaba y CASTOLO queda con el portero mano a mano, este es la oportunidad que siempre había estado esperando, el portero sale achicar y CASTOLO se la pica y... GOOOOOOAAAAAAALL! la hinchada se vuelve loca, no pueden creer la magia que tiene CASTOLO, el chico pinta para grandes cosas.
El juego transcurre sin pena ni gloria hasta el 90', dan de agregado 3 minutos.
A segundos para el final PES united busca ganar y echa todo el equipo hacia adelante, luego de un potente remate de MINANDA el portero rechaza el balón al tiro de esquina. ¡OH MIREN ESO!, IVAROV baja a cabecear. el portero de PES united ya tiene 34 años y sabe bien que esta puede ser su última oportunidad de jugar en 1ra división. MINANDA va ejecutar el tiro de esquina, la gente está nerviosa, muchos lloran, otros rezan, algunos otros dan la espalda a la jugada porque los nervios no les permiten ver. Ahí va MINANDA golpea el balón con su exquisita técnica, el balón va a media altura y a gran velocidad, CASTOLO la peina y aparece DODO para cabecear, ¿de dónde salió ese sujeto?, el remate se dirige al portería y uno de los defensores del shakhtar despeja muy mal, el balón le queda en los pies a un jugador de PES united, no podemos ver quien es por la gran cantidad de jugadores en el área chica. ¡SEÑORES HAY UN REMATE, LAS REDES SE AGITAN, NO LO PUEDO CREER ES GOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLL INCREILE, ES EL MEJOR JUEGO DE LA TEMPORADA, PES UNITED ESTA EN 1RA DIVISION, POR PRIMERA VEZ EN SU HISTORIA, EL FUTBOL ES MAGNIFICO! wooo aguarden un segundo, nos dicen que hay un jugador tirado en el campo llorando, si, es el autor del gol histórico... ¡NOS CONFIRMAN QUE EL JUGADOR ES IVAROV!. Es nuestra figura del encuentro definitivamente.
No siempre veía los partidos de esta forma tan intensa, pero si cuando me sentía mal emocionalmente por alguno motivo, me refugiaba en la algarabía que me dejaba jugar un partido con esa intensidad y imaginación, al final de ese tiempo de juego todo aquello que me hacía sentir mal desaparecía, estoy seguro que más de uno dirá que estoy loco pero fue una buena etapa.
ANECDOTA
El disco siempre se rayaba, lo usaba demasiado tenía una vida como de 3 semanas hasta que se me empezaba a pegar el juego, mi madre siempre me daba para comprarme el juego pero llego un punto en el que sabía que ya no debía hacerlo. Un día me levante por la tarde prendí la consola y el juego no pasaba del konami, es una tontería pero me fui en lágrimas jajaja, muchos conocidos tenían el juego, yo iba hasta sus casas a pedírselos prestado y no lo hacían, obviamente desde que empecé a jugarlo mi habilidad para tratar personas fue disminuyendo y no sabía encarar una conversación tal como para convencerlos de que me lo prestaran y aparte no estaban en la obligación de hacerlo, había perdido mucho contacto con ellos, en el 2009 no existía el covid-19 pero yo vivía como si estuviéramos en pleno apogeo del mismo. Estaba frustrado por que no podía jugar y tenía un nivel ansiedad bastante alto, un día me mandan al súper mercado a comprar queso para las arepas y cuando llego veo que hay unos chicos detrás de la caja metiendo los productos en bolsa y les dejaban propinas por hacer eso, literal se me olvido el mandado, me puse en otra caja a embolsar. Un juego por aquel entonces costaba 10000.Bs y yo en una semana conseguí alrededor de 740,000.Bs, eso fue insano para mi jaja compre 4 juegos, 3 PES y el otro juego no lo alcanzo a recordar, pero me parece que fue NFS U2. El resto del dinero se lo di a mi madre, no me interesaba comprar más nada con ese dinero, esa era mi mentalidad a los 13 años, mientras otros les apasionaba cosas más interesantes y ambiciosas a mí no había quien me sacara de mi cuarto.
CONCLUSION:
Cuando juegas y ves PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER de esa manera tan real como la vi yo el juego deja de ser un juego y se vuelve una obsesión.
Este juego causo que abandonara los estudios, que tuviera problema con mi madre, que dejara de ir a jugar a la calle con mis amigos y básicamente que socializara mucho menos, esta es mi historia con PES, pero también me dejo muchas otras cosas muy positivas. al final del cuento las cosas negativas las fui resolviendo una por una, y solo quedaron las positivas 😊
Espero hayan disfrutado de este título y este post, ya que lo hice con mucho cariño y también con algo de pena, nunca sabemos que pueda pensar los demás. Para mi es agradable contarles cosas que no le he comentado a nadie, me parece una buena forma de drenar un poco eso que llevas por dentro y de generar un vínculo con ustedes, las personas que leen este post.
