Dear Steemians,

I made this post to take a part in Project Giving’s contest, the theme is “Introducing Project Giving's Community Challenge”, to find out the post detail please read the following link https://steemit.com/sndbox/@projectgiving/introducing-project-giving-s-community-challenge

Even though I posted this post as a contest, we will still continue all the activities. I will describe for details.

Introducing of Rumoh Agam (Youth House)

Initially, Rumoh Agam was established in Lamreung’s village in 2007, and had moved several times until finally have a permanent address in Blang Cut areas, in Banda Aceh - Indonesia. We also have a small office as a place to talk about the youth program that will be carried out here.

Actually, Rumoh Agam is a program guided by SOS Children Village for boys who are already into teenagers, they will be transferred to male-only dormitories. Even though the teenagers in Rumoh Agam are SOS's assisted children, me and Aris (Rumoh Agam's coaches) want the teenagers to have their own ability to survive and be more independent. Therefore, we have carried out several programs to support the positive activities for them.

The activities that they did (Program Details)

Maintain the regional culture of traditional dances
Teenagers in Rumoh Agam have been doing a lot of activities in maintaining regional culture, such as training for traditional Acehnese dance that have known as Rapa'i Geleng. This dance will be exhibited by teenagers when there are guests come, or at an opening event which collaborates with teenagers in Rumoh Agam.

Practicing Rapa'i Geleng (Aceh Traditional's Dance)

Practicing the sustainable development movement

Quoting the sentence from the law of Herman Daly III
“sustainable rate of emission for pollution and wastes means that it should not be faster than the pace at which natural system can absorb them, recycle them or render their harmless” (Source).

This is closely related how to preserve nature and not to damage it so that it will have an impact on ecosystem sustainability.

Teenagers carry out sustainable development activities by minimizing the use of plastic bags which ultimately only become waste. They also carry out activities to collected the plastic waste in public places then dispose it to the final disposal site, the initiative is carried out so that cleanliness in public places is maintained.

This is the same as the 'butterfly effect' theory first used by Edward Norton Lorenz, he said "the flutter of butterfly wings in the jungles of Brazil, could theoretically trigger tornadoes in Texas a few months later."

If we dive deeper into the meaning, it was talking about of a small event that occurs in one area, can cause horrible damage in other areas.

So with the initiative to collect plastic waste, the soil will not be polluted by toxins from plastic waste which can have a negative impact on the health of others somewhere, because they will consume food produced from soil contaminated with plastic waste, because the toxins from plastic waste are carried by ground water.

In terms of preserving the environment, teenagers who live in Rumoh Agam also take the initiative to utilize available resources, such as making organic fertilizers by utilizing rotten fruits which was collecting from the fruit market, and applying them to mini gardens. Rumoh Agam has a large yard, so we designed it by planting fruit trees, as well as several types of vegetables.

Gardening Time

This will also have an economic impact, because teenagers have indirectly learned to save their money, which will ultimately reduce their daily expenses. The result that we get is the environment is maintained, the quality of the economy increases.

Conduct activities related to art
The teenagers deserves to get our appreciation for their ability to created some arts, they are able to paint murals on walls of the house, paint on canvas, make handicrafts from used materials, and some children are able to design using applications on a computer.

The Product

The Problem

In terms of management there are still shortcomings, for example no one has been appointed as an admin who will record all matters relating to ordering, and no one has become a treasurer in charge of recording financial activities. So they have not been able to predict the gains and losses obtained.

To overcome this, I will give a basic understanding about the financial record step by step for the teenager. Indirectly, I want to introduce blockchain technology to teenagers with a very basic thing, namely the transaction of recording the financial activities. Though, I am not the expert of blockchain's thing, but I learnt about it.

Who was involved

  1. Youth Care Co-Worker : Aris Ardianto
  2. Partnership Project : Fara Rizky
  3. Youth Coordinator : Satria Eka Sakti
  4. All the teenager in Rumoh Agam
  5. And anyone interests in this project

What we need from you

We are looking for extensive networking to help spread all activities carried out by teenagers who belong in Rumoh Agam. With the spread of all forms of activity, it is hoped that there will be people or a community interested in sharing knowledge about management, soft skills, agriculture, design, art or any field that can improve the knowledge of teenagers in Rumoh Agam, and help them strengthen their abilities who have owned.

Later, teenagers are expected to be able to become mentors and share the knowledge gained to other teenagers outside Rumoh Agam. The final result is our dream to make Rumoh Agam as an education center can be realized.

I have also taken the initiative to create an account for Rumoh Agam in steemit (still in the verification stage), so that later they can write down what activities they have done and will do. The output of this activity is after the teens are accustomed to writing, then each of them will have a personal steemit account.
