Taxi Anyone?
The LTFRB-XI issued the 2018 taxi fare rates in Davao City as shown below. You may be interested to find out how much more you will have to pay.
To summarize the changes:
- The taxi fare will be higher by P1.83 per kilometer compared to that of last year; and,
- Waiting time will be more expensive by P0.25 per minute.
So for a trip from Insular Village to Victoria Plaza which is about 5 kms, expect to pay 9 to 10 pesos more for the distance. If you are in the middle of rush hour with the traffic very slowly moving, you pay an extra peso for every 4 minutes your taxi stands still due to traffic snarls and gridlocks. If it took you one hour to travel the normal 15 minute drive from Insular Village to Victoria, it means you had 45 minutes of waiting time due to traffic and your additional fare will be about P11. So 10 + 11=21 pesos more for that stretch during rush hour. (Rough estimate lang po.)
The LTFRB-XI also advised the taxi riding public to pay only those taxis whose meters have already been calibrated. Check the taxi meter if the plastic seal normally seen beside the meter is new or not. If it looks old, then chances are that taxi's meter has not yet been calibrated.

Wala na po ako alam sa mga ganito hindi kasi uso samin taxi, tryci lang (^_^)
Meron kami dito tawag payong payong. Tricycle din na may sidecar pero walang bubong. Open lang. Meron lang kinakabit na beach umbrella sa may gitna. Ang soci na tawag dito ay "Crosswind" (with reference to the Isuzu Crosswind model) kasi pag nakasakay ka yung hangin kahit saang direction ang dating. Binabawal ito from 6am to 11pm. Pero after that, ito na ang tumatakbo sa downtown. Walang metro. Pakyawan lang. P10 ang ulo kahit saan sa downtown. Daming taxi na umaangal. Pero what can they do. Underground economy yan.
