ASWANG

Good Evening Steemians. Thank you for your warm welcome to Steemit. This is my first blog about Philippine Folklore. I will introduce to you the most popular Monster in the Philippines which is the Aswang. They are like a vampire in the Philippines.

They can change into animal forms like a pig or a dog. They love the taste of human liver and cannot resist the smell of fetuses. Stories told in the province they climb up on the houses which are made of coconut palm leaves and looks for a pregnant woman. They have a tongue that can stretch out like a straw to suck out the baby from the mother's womb. You would hear a bird called the Tik Tik which tells that there is an Aswang coming. They are the deadliest of the monsters here in the Philippines and is feared by all. In the morning they turn into a normal person and they live alone in a hut. They also cannot look you in the eye directly when they are in human form. There are places here in the Philippines that was told a lot of Aswang lives. The place is called Capiz but it is untrue as I have a friend from Capiz. There were claims on the news long ago that they captured an aswang but was not proven. It is only a crazy man

Weapons used to defeat the Aswang are garlic, bamboo spears and bolo blade. My grandma also told me that you could also use the tail of a stingray to beat the Aswang. The popularity of this creature has been made into numerous movies and stories. Around 85% of our population knows what the Aswang is.
