Recently, CHED’s recent statement that flexible learning will be the norm and there is no going back to the traditional, full packed face to face classrooms. This statement created a buzz and there are a lot of reactions from netizens about this especially from those who are not in favor of this flexible learning set up.

What is flexible learning?
Flexible Learning for higher education institutions involves a combination of digital and non-digital technology like online classes, modules or a combination of the two methods.

In my perspective, there is really nothing wrong with flexible learning and it is really possible to do it but to make it a norm. students, teachers and schools should be asked for their opinion on how effective the current flexible learning is because they are the ones who really experience it first hand. To make it a norm, they should have consider the factors concerning flexible learning like the low internet connectivity and the effectivity of modules among others and its pros and cons to make it more effective and efficient for learning. They should also consider if flexible learning can give every person the opportunity to quality education since education is for all regardless of our differences.

I am not against flexible learning. In fact, due to the situation that we are facing at present, this is the practical solution instead of stopping education altogether but there should be more research, they could maybe discover and adopt new methods and programs that would suit the needs of students, teachers and schools so that schools can give quality education to students and for the students to learn even during this difficult times due to COVID 19.
