Some facts about the national anthem
The national anthem of the Philippines is Lupang Hinirang. It was composed by Julian Felipe in 1898 and lyrics adapted lyrics from the Spanish poem Filipinas, written by José Palma in 1899. It did not have lyrics when it was adopted in the first place during the proclamation of Philippine independence on June 12, 1898. It took more than a year to have lyrics on its own until on 1899 the words of Jose Palma was published and on year 1943, the late President Jose P. Laurel ordered to translate the original Spanish text into Filipino and English.
