ONE thing that is likely a large factor in the creation and sustenance of these problems. That is accountability.

yup..and the ONLY way to keep your representatives accountable is to keep the primary unit of government SMALL.

EVERY representative should know each and every one of his constituents personally.

well..that's a little bit beyond dunbar's number..but they had the right idea.

Yep, I've heard that if we followed that the size of Congress should be about 60,000 instead of the size today. I do think they should actually live among their constituents the bulk of the time. The actions they take that impact those they represent should also impact them.

Yet I can see you agree, and I'm not surprised. ;)

Here is a group in the United States that advocates for Congressional districts with a population of about 50,000:
