For the past five days I've been here in the city growing some new grays on my beard. It almost feels like Murphy is out to get us these days, but then again, I cant truly say I'm surprised things are turning out this way.
Almost from the time I got here, I've been working alongside my father on his vehicle rental business. I wont say I was not optimistic in the beginning because I truly was, but the optimism, the joy, slowly but surely got drained out of me.
I too had skin in the game, three vehicles to be exact, but as soon as these “events” began to feel too common, and as soon as the insurance companies showed me, once again, they do not exist to protect their customers, but that's another subject altogether.... I cut my losses
So, what now?
I don't know exactly, but it seems my father is finally starting to wake up to the fact that “his business” is not sustainable in our current environment. Frankly, just being able to collect debt is hard enough to make me want to switch focus, but when all the profit, when made, is dumped into fixing the vehicles; it truly feels like my father and by proxy me, are the only ones not making anything these days.
Ahhh Murphy.. I hate you sometimes… wait, no… all the time… yes… i hate you all the time.

That's a really trashed car. Did the driver walk away from it?
yeah... he got lucky! Did get some stitches, but nothing too bad... three more people are in the hospital atm, and I still dont know their condition. I hope, since Ive not had visits from law enforcement, that they are minor injuries.
