RE: As Trivium Use Increases- Logic and Reason May Become More Popular

in #philosophy8 years ago (edited)

For the past 25 years or so I've sought the genesis of my own thoughts and beliefs in an attempt to find the truth of my own being. This path has been very rewarding and illuminating. Essentially, once I discovered that humans can be taught like dogs to believe anything, anything at all, i've decided to keep my own counsel, but always filtered through sound reason. Not that I disregard intuition or at times a spiritual "knowing", but that these sources must too bear the scrutiny of reason. As far as humans coming to the realization that unless we transform our self deception and ignorance into an understanding of "what is" we're screwed...well, I've not seen much evidence of that. I do hope you are right however. Perhaps posts such as yours will add to the momentum of such a transformation. Oh, and by the way, the hideous creature we call public education in the US is spawning a flood of ignorant zealots who rush about with pitchforks and torches fueled by emotion and propaganda. But you know that. Pray God something will illuminate their minds other than flaming garbage. Best regards.
