Unfortunately, you write about the best and less part of mankind. It seems that only 1-2/10 people eager to learn and explore the world. Others are content with the minimum for existence, not trying to broaden their horizons.

imo this is a symptom of the consumer based economy. It's very easy to get caught up in entertainment or gossip rather than spending time constructively, especially when the herd mentality of an entire country is stampeding in that direction. The good side of this, everyone eventually tires of being 'entertained' or focusing on other people. The more content like this article get seen the quicker people lose interest in trivial matters...
