RE: Reflections on not enough

in #philosophy8 years ago

I don't think so. I think it grows because I get supported by people much more influential than I am. It grows because I reward comments and engage with people. It grows because a lot of the topics I cover people care about in some way and connect with. Mostly it grows because I work hard to build the community though.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you're not developing and growing your following through hard work. I just was wondering if it gets easier over time because of the increase in exposure. I'm finding that it's a lot easier to get 10+ new followers per day now that I'm over 100, when it was a struggle getting even 2 new followers a day from 0-50.

Yes, but follower count is largely irrelevant. The quality of follower matters a great deal however. It took me 3 months to get to 100 followers and I hadn't made much gains in value. However, I was rep 64. That is because the people who read and voted were themselves high rep people, even though they might not have had a lot of value with their vote (at the time).

The 'at the time' is important because things change over time meaning many of those early supporters are still with me with much higher values. They are still here because of my content/work consistency, willingness to push some buttons at times and willingness to buyin to the system with work ethic and powering up steem. I have a few auto voters but not high percentage ones. Those that vote larger tend to read my posts rather than just vote.

Got it. Thanks!
