Just discovered your account and already impressed. You wrote a well thought out article. I'm really sorry you felt overlooked. I wasn't the last kid in my family, but similar situation, right before the first girl and as I often did ok on my own, sort of overlooked.
There definitely are a lot of people on here that expect they should have a $100,000 account handed to them just because they showed up. I see a lot of that in the world today. Part of it is because society allows people to sort of "cheat" and get ahead by using things like credit to buy things they can't afford. It gives the feeling of accomplishment, without putting in the work ahead of time.
It's important to find something you're passionate about and keep after it. Then you can succeed.
Glad to hear your daughter is doing well. I don't know if it's good advice, but I would say to encourage her for trying. Encourage her to make mistakes and give things a chance. If they don't work out, try again. I was always told I was smart, so I didn't end up trying as hard as I could have. That could have led to failing. Now I have to do things differently. I take chances and keep going.
Nice to meet you. Have a great day!
