You are right, I did notice that too, filters have a whole new meaning and bring something different to the image when used on images of the sun. It is worth plating with them in that context for sure. Try an app called Snapseed if you haven't already, it has amazing filtering and image editing capabilities. It's my go to tool always!

Indeed, some of the best images i ever captured were in and of nature! Moreover, these are the images requiring the least filter application, too!
Interesting note regarding filters.
I tend not to use filters, however, especially with much light (sunsets) and little light, i see the need.
