Khetri town in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district is famous for its copper mine. This is an area of Shekhawati. In fact, Khetri is divided into two towns. One of them is that which was built by the king 'Kshat Singhji Nirvana'.

Khetdi is the place where his elder brother Nandlal had come to know about Motilal Nehru in his childhood. Nandlal was a teacher before King Fateh Singh's diwan was there. In this Kheddi, Nandlal had hidden the news of Fateh Singh's death in 1870 and made Ajit Singh his successor by adopting Ajit Singh at the age of nine years from Alsisar near nearby. Nandlal later moved to Agra and finally settled in Allahabad, whose heritage was extended to his younger brother Motilal and later Motilal's son Jawaharlal.
