RE: A Morning in Solar de Mañana Geyser Basin in Bolivia

in #photofeed6 years ago

Sol de Manana is an area of about 10 square kilometers at an altitude of 5000 meters above the sea level. In this place, well seen intense volcanic activity: the gurgling mud pots, gas jets from the ground, sulphuric pools. Scientists say that this is not a field of geysers and geothermal area, as it has about 50 natural boiling pools, and high steam jets in the form of geysers almost all of artificial origin. They left after attempts to use geothermal energy in the late 20th century, but work was discontinued due to low profitability.
