What you should keep in your camera bag

Taking pictures became a part in our lives. Smartphones are the most popular medium as they offer comfort, practicality and quality in our shots. Photography enthusiasts though, take it a step further and take, in their possessions, cameras of great quality with not excessive expenses, as they are now affordable. Those with more experience spend a lot of money to renew their equipment in order to have the right tools for their activities. We picked some of them and made a list on what you should carry in your bag depending on the circumstances.

Mid-range and high-end smartphones have gained their utility as cameras and became a standard. The most common accessory in this category is the selfie stick. You can get a simple telescopic selfie stick or with Bluetooth support. Recording a video though, through a smartphone isn't an easy task. You can't be steady enough and you will find out that the phone's stabilizer doesn't do much. You can use a monopod or a tripod to capture your moments without being anxious about the result.

If you are looking something for your Osmo camera, there is the DJI Osmo Extension Stick, which gives you more options for positioning your Osmo. You can mount it on a bike or a motorcycle with the DJI Osmo Bike Mount or get the complete set of accessories with the DJI Osmo Handle Kit.

If you go hiking, skiing or do other outdoor activities or sports then you are probably an owner of an action camera. The most frequent problem is where to place it. The Jaws Flex Camp is the perfect accessory for those who want to place with comfort their GoPro everywhere at all times. It offers support to any object available with a 5-6 diameter. For those who want their hands free, they can strap their GoPro on their helmet with the Vented Helmet Strap Mount. If you want to go under water with your GoPro Hero4 Session, there is the GoPro Floaty to proof it. For more stabilization, there is a company that offers 3 axis gimbal for GoPros, Feiyu G4 is their latest gimbal model. Its like the Dji Osmo but with a Go pro on top.

If you need to get aerial shots, then you will probably use a drone. Dji phantom 4 is the suitable solution for professional use. Escalating to a drone with more characteristics like interchangeable lenses, micro four thirds mount, Dji hits again with her Ispire series. An other major company in the drone market is the Parrot which offers the Behoop 2. It can fly continuously for 25 minutes and the handling system is very simple.

Going a little more deep in the Dslr world... We have the intro dslr cameras, Nikon d3300 or D 5500. From the Canon side there is Canon 1200d and a little more advanced the Canon 750d. Basic lens prime or kit lens, 18-55mm basic kit, can get you started.

You might need an extra flashlight on top, to give a better look to your indoor images. Yongnuo is a reputable, yet cheap brand for Speedflash solutions. Wirelless and Multi Group triggered to take your creativity to the next level. YouTube is a must, for getting ideas and advices for using your entry-level dslr and produce good results.

As for video shooting, I would use the new mirrorless systems, from sony, Panasonic, Samsung , pentax and Olympus. Each brand has its own characteristics. Built in image stabilization, light equipment, Crisp full hd video quality and great auto focus support.

If you want a more cinematic, and smooth look, you can use the new Dji ronin - 3 axis gimbal, coming in different editions for heavier or lighter cameras. Other brands like Came-tv produce decent gimbals as well.

Don't judge me as an actor too harsh, I'm not that bad.

Advice: Use always good memory modules, Sd cards, Cf cards, or micro Sd's. When storing memories, the storage medium must be reliable and fast. Spent a little more money on a more expensive Sandisk memory card or another reputable brand, such as Samsung, transcend, Lexar etc..
You can check the link below for more info about memory cards.

Extra batteries, are always a must! Prefer the original ones despite their high price. You don't want to stop shooting in the middle of the action.

Grab whatever suits you and get creative ! Have fun !

They are bots.

I know ... it seemed funny in a tragic way ... :)

That DJI Osmo is awesome! For everyday usage, if you look to point to shoot, I think high end smartphones are good enough. Galaxy S7 can shoot pretty good low light shots. I don't want to carry an DSLR with me everyday. Unless looking to shoot a subject, then DSLR might make sense. If you planning to shoot everyday, extra battery is a must! If you using your phone, bring your powerbank.

Great post. I was one of the people that would take absolutely everything I could think of in multiple camera bags. The one guarantee was that I would leave the thing I would need the most at home!
