Benteng Kuta Lubok is a fort located on the edge of Malacca Strait, this fort is located on the edge of the beach aims to make troops from the kingdom of Aceh more freely and easily control the situation in the sea Strait of Malacca. making the building of Benteng Kuta Lubok using a very simple material, namely andesite and coral rock material, prepared with spesi. Viewed from the aspect of form, the casting holes / cannon of Benteng Kuta Lubok proves that in every castle has weaponry equipment that is the cannon placed in the reconnaissance holes.
At first Benteng Kuta Lubok is a fort built by the Portuguese and then taken by the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam. the Portuguese built this fortress with the aim to control commodities in Aceh such as spices and other natural products So that the economy of Aceh at that time is pinched because all the trade routes have been controlled by the Portuguese. Seeing the increasingly difficult conditions of Aceh in terms of economy and trade, then there is no other way for the Sultan of Aceh in addition to expel the Portuguese who are in Kuta Lubok. The attack on Kuta Lubok was led by the nephew of Sultan Ali Mughayatsyah, Sultan Iskandar Muda. Aceh troops captured the Kuta Lubok Fortress so that the Portuguese withdrew to Malacca.
Kuta Lubok castle became the primary needs of its time, besides as a base of defense also played an important role as a place of education and training for royal soldiers, especially those who fought in the field of maritime / maritime. In addition, this fort also serves as a port of loading and unloading of goods, especially goods related to the military.
now if we visit the castle kuta lubok that we see only the ruins of the stone structure of the fort, this is caused by the lack of care since the castle was abandoned by the kingdom. Moreover Aceh was shaken several times by a massive earthquake and tsunami in 2004 that caused damage to the royal heritage of Aceh Darussalam.

benteng kuta lubok is located in the hills lamreh, krueng raya Aceh besar.
if one day you want to visit I can help you there. I wrote about this fort because my "skripsi" also discussed a bit about this fortress. I am not a member of the mapesa, but I often do excavations with researchers from aceh and also malaysia.

This location of kuta lubok fort kak @cicisaja. I learned a lot from the deddy satria, especially about the Lamreh archeology. I know "Baneng Meujanggot" on facebook kak.
So..kuta lubok is smaller then indra patra... uhmm😞 my suggestion is to add this map on your post...so it will be a great help for the community to find the route.

The tsunami caused damage throughout the area. It's a shame that we lose part of our historic sites to mother nature
