| The photos of the bathroom offered a slight surprise: a bath tub. I don't remember this at all. & a bath tub in China is a big deal. Virtually no apartment or hotel I was in, had one. In 11 years I have seen maybe 3 or 4. My memory must be really messed up if I forget one that I used for half a year. | Die Bilder des Bades überraschten mich leicht: eine Badewanne. | On my first trip to the local supermarket (there was only one), I found that Huashi was even more provincial than Shaoguan. Not many international brands, but quite a number showing off alleged international provenance: | Mein erster Besuch im dortigen Supermarkt (gab nur einen) zeigte, daß Huashi noch provinzieller als Shaoguan war. | Huashi was quite rural, somehow, so you would expect some more contact to nature than in Ningbo, a praying mantis still was a nice little surprise. What really caught may attention though, were all those strange vehicles that you could find in most smaller places in China, but rarely in such density. | Huashi war eher ländlich, also erwartet man größeren Kontakt zur Natur als z.B. in Ningbo. Trotzdem war eine Gottesanbeterin eine angenehme Überraschung. Allerdings erregten v.a. all diese seltsamen Fahrzeuge, die man überall in China findet, jedoch nicht in der Häufigkeit, meine Aufmerksamkeit. |

| The above kind of trike was very common in Huashi. Many parents brought their kids to school on something like this. But, as you can see, they were also used in the role of trucks. | Don't know why I had not noticed such bends before, because they are quite common, but back in 2008 I was a bit confused why you would bend pipe(line)s like that. Seems, they do that to counter thermal expansion or contraction. | Keine Ahnung, warum mir sowas vorher nie aufgefallen war, sieht man eigentlich recht oft, aber in 2008 wunderte ich mich, warum man eine Röhre derart biegen würde. | Finally, something nice in Huashi. Nice enough for the title photo. But, honestly, although quite rural in some ways, Huashis had more the feel (& dirt) of an industrial town. | Endlich auch mal was Schönes in Huashi. Gut genug für das Titelbild. | The next one looks a bit nicer, although, if you look closely, you again see quite some plastic in the water.
