More Sights of Guanajuato Mexico, Contributed by @TangerineTravels

in #photography6 years ago

We've spent more time exploring the Mexican colonial city of Guanajuato. It's a city in a seemingly unlikely location, built into the sides of mountains. Near the city are colonial-era silver mines, many of which are still in operation today. This might give some insight as to why they built this city in such an unlikely place. Much of the world's silver has come from near Guanajuato which at one time made it the wealthiest city in Mexico.

This is Teatro Juarez (Juarez Theater) in the daytime.

The same building at night.

Across the street from Teatro Juarez, you'll find El Centro which has luscious, perfectly-manicured vegetation and some fountains. I could probably spend all day here reading on one of these benches.

Getting away from El Centro a little bit, this is the view down one of the streets. A flat street is a rare sight in Guanajuato.

I may or may not have had to trespass to get this shot. I thought it was really cool to see this old staircase, painted blue along the edges, hugging the side of the mountain to allow residents access to their apartments.

If you look closely here, you can see the blue staircase from another angle.

There might be a lot of gorgeous views in this city but they come at a price. You'll find yourself walking up and down countless stairs to get to where you're going.
