Vintage Photos - eBay Set #2 (373-376)

in #photography11 months ago

I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay. There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here for posterity.

This set continues a batch of slides that I bought on eBay a while back. I don't have as much to go on as to the ultimate origin of these compared to the previous batch I was working on. They came to me from eBay and most likely were picked up at an estate sale by the seller. Most of them seem to be taken in the 1960s and same individuals are included in many of the photos. It looks like there are some that were taken in Miami and some that were taken in New Jersey and perhaps elsewhere. I get the impression that Miami was a vacation spot for this family.

The first photo was processed in September 1965. It was taken inside an Asian restaurant, possibly in Miami. There have been several other photos from this restaurant in previous sets, seemingly with the staff and/or owners.

The second photo was processed in August 1966. It's not really obvious where it was taken but this may be a phot from Miami as well.

The third photo was processed in November 1968. This looks like preparations for a Halloween party so I'm guessing this was taken on Halloween, 1968.

The last photo was processed in April 1969. It shows two kids with brown corduroy coats. The balloons are kind of interesting. I can make out the words "Cowboys" and "champion". I checked and the NFL team Dallas Cowboys were not champions in 1968 or 1969. Since none of the photos from this batch have been from Texas as far as I know anyway, this probably refers to some kind of local sports team.

That must be very interesting to peek into the lives of others with these slides and perhaps make up your own stories about what is going on in the pics. Just out of interest, how do you know when the pic was originally processed?

A lot of these slides have a date stamped into them (month and year). I am making the assumption that this was done by whoever processed the film and created the slides and that the date reflects when that was done. At least I'm not sure what else it could represent.
