You can provide just a link, but you can’t copy the photograph and then link. That's Copyright infringement. Pure linking without the swiped image being in your post is not considered copyright infringement, but no one does that. Everyone wants the free eyecandy of the actual image. If you copy an image and provide the CORRECT ORIGINAL SOURCE you have avoided plagiarism which is not illegal, but you have not avoided copyright infringement which is illegal! I think you did misunderstand. 😊
