Fluorite Mineral

Good day dear Hive Community, first of all I wish you all a nice day and a pleasant start to the new week! In my new post I would like to introduce you to a mineral and hope you find it informative and can learn something new.

You can see here the mineral fluorite and I have photographed two different manifestations. Fluorite is a relatively common mineral that exists in pretty much every color and belongs to the mineral class of halides. It mainly forms crystals that look cube or octahedral like and also often tends to form twin crystals.

Fluorite is also called fluorspar and this name was mentioned by the Swedish mineralogist and chemist Axel Frederic Cronstedt (1722 - 1765). The name fluorite, was mentioned a little later in 1797 by the Italian physicist Carlo Antonio Napione (1757 - 1814). The name derives from the Latin word fluere, which means flow.

This mineral is often used in the processing and addition of water and is also used in the production of ceramics or glass. It is rarely used to make jewelry because it begins to crumble easily due to the hardness and splinters. However, pendants or chains are still made from them, which are sealed with an adhesive to better protect it from fragility.

Fluorite is also mythologically strongly anchored and was already known in ancient Greece. Also in ancient Egypt, this mineral was used as a material for cutting sculptures and also in ancient China it was used to make engravings. From a symbolic point of view, it is often seen as protection and is also associated with lucid dreaming as well as joy and harmony. Fluorite is also known as chakra stone and is associated with different chakras depending on the color.

Thanks for taking the time to read through my post and I hope you find it well structured! I used my camera Sony Alpha 6000 and Sony SEL-55210 Telephoto Zoom Lens (55-210mm) to take these pictures.

Thanks :)

That's great @elevator09! We're thrilled with your commitment to Hive! Let's go for this new goal!

Stones like these are not usually found, they have to be found and the way we see them both is very beautiful.

I am very pleased to hear your opinion on minerals.

Thanks for the continued support and sharing of my contributions.
