Joslyn Museum Architecture

in #photography4 years ago (edited)

It has been awhile. Work has been busy and my weekends have been spent with family. There hasn't been much time to get out and take photos and, besides, there isn't much to take photos of in the countryside. Everything is still brown and muddy.

A couple of weekends ago, I made the trip down to Omaha to help my sister with her house. While most of the weekend was dedicated to home repair, we did make a trip out to Joslyn Art Museum. Surprisingly, everyone was wearing a mask–even over the nose!

I exclusively used the new Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L for the weekend. It isn't the best lens for everything, but worked really well in the dimly-lit interior. The central chamber of the art museum reminded me of something I might have seen in Spain or Italy, except for the color choice.

There were some fantastic pieces of art inside, but I don't like to photograph art unless it's my own and I need to make a print. Instead, I pulled out my camera for the architectural vignettes and lighting.

If you find yourself in Omaha and like art and architecture, I definitely recommend a visit to this museum.

Okay... One piece of art:

I've only driven through Omaha and have never had a reason to spend any time there. Looks like a great museum, though. Even with a creepy mask! 😁

Some of the paintings were really impressive. My favorite was a portrait of a Russian lady with a cat. The lighting was amazing. There were more than a couple works from Spanish artists, too.

I love art museums. I've been lucky enough to visit tome of the great ones!

Imagine this building in Minecraft. It would take many hours to build it with all the interiors within it, and the exteriors (nearby things).

My favorite would be probably the Central Fountain.
That already looks like a Minecraft building.

There hasn't been much time to get out and take photos and, besdides, there isn't much to take photos of in the countryside.

You made a typo in this sentence. You wrote "besdides" instead of besides.

Thanks! I corrected the typo.

I've never used minecraft, but used to create levels for Descent 2 and 3, and have used a lot of 3D modeling software.

Spain has a lot of beautiful architecture and I think maybe that's where Joslyn for some of her inspiration.
