The photos that I will share today are a bit different from what I usually post. Most of the time, my subjects are flowers, leaves, plants, and small things that I find in the garden. But for today, I wanted to play around with man-made objects while still keeping my black and white photography style.
I realized that texture is everywhere around us. We do not always notice it because we are used to seeing these objects every day. A chair, a shoe, and even the flooring can look ordinary at first, but when you look closer, there are patterns that make them interesting. Some textures are smooth, some are rough, and some have repeated lines that create a very satisfying visual effect.
In black and white photography, these details become more visible. Without color, the eyes are guided more toward the lines, shadows, and contrast. The woven pattern of the chair becomes stronger. The sole of the shoe shows its design more clearly. Even the floor with its straight lines becomes a subject on its own. I think this is one of the reasons why I enjoy black and white photography so much. It teaches me to appreciate things in a different way.
Life is also like this sometimes. We may think that our daily surroundings are too ordinary, but if we slow down and look with more attention, we will find beauty in them. Not everything beautiful has to be grand or colorful. Sometimes, beauty is found in repetition, texture, and the small details that we usually ignore.
I am glad that photography helps me notice these things more. It makes ordinary moments more meaningful.
