I started a contest 7 days ago. The contest was centered around HDR photos taken near the water. Posts had to be original photos. I contributed 5 SBD as an initial prize and had 2 announcement posts to generate some eyes on the contest and more steem dollars for the prize pool. The first announcement post earned 1.239 SBD after payout. The second announcement post earned 1.256 SBD. Final pool is 7.495 SBD. There were 3 prizes, first 65% of pool, second 25% of pool, third 10% of pool. I was planning on doing these every week unfortunately not many entered so maybe in the future I will revisit it.
