Short ride to Madavoorpara!

in #photography6 years ago

Madavoorpara is located in the outskirts of Trivandrum. It is a great place to visit if you are a nature lover and likes to explore places. This is also one of the most calmest places that you could visit in Trivandrum. The only sounds you'll hear would be those of the birds and the winds.

The roads aren't that good but the view at the top makes up for it. The climb is rather adventurous I would say. Once you reach the place, you are welcomed by a few steps. When you have climbed up these steps you'll have two ways to go. One way takes you to the ancient rock cut temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the other takes you to the foot of the rock.

The route to the foot of the rock is pretty small and slippery due to the dead leaves that fell off from the trees that grow beside the route.

The slope is very steep and has a rope to hold on to at the start of the climb. You definitely wouldn't want to climb up this slope when it is rainy. Once you climbed the small steep slope you could see a huge tree without any leaves. Besides the tree there is also a pond which is formed by the water that flows down the rock.

Once you reach the top, you get to see almost all of Trivandrum from that one spot. It is also pretty windy at the top. On checking out the place, you'll see a park and many small huts made out of bamboo. You'll also see an entrance to a bridge made out of bamboo. You can check out the first picture of this post to see what it looks like.

Going up the bridge takes you to another view point and another hut. There's not much at the top, pretty much the same view that we saw earlier. But you get to see one more side which you wouldn't be able to see from the first view point. The silence here would certainly help you forget about all the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Madavoorpara also has an ancient rock cut temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which is believed to have been built in the 8th century AD. The steps to get to the temple are also carved in to the stones. Unfortunately I couldn't capture the photos of the temple and the steps. There are only two rock cut temples in Trivandrum one of which is in Vizinjam. You could google "madavoorpara" and it would show you the temple as well.

PS: I apologize for the poor quality of photos. My phone fell down and cracked the lens of the camera. This makes the pictures look very over-exposed and creates a lot of lens flares.
