The Mt Lofty botanic gardens are quite a way from the Mt Lofty summit climb. We ended up heading there and didn't have as much time as we hoped. So we just quickly looped around and didn't go on many of the trails. It was actually quite different to the summit climb which we normally go up and I was expecting it to resemble that kind of forestry area. However, it was a lot more open and had small trails heading off every now and then which was quite interesting and I would love to have had more time to explore the area.
I took quite a few photos of some of the lovely flowers plants and occasional animal that came around.
This was part of the main area which had quite a few people picnicking on the grass.
A fancy fine covered boardwalk we got to walk along.
This seemed to be quite a popular view from the main area and I'm guessing that the hill in the distance is near the summit climb.
As I said about the photo above this is a popular view, so I tried to get a different view that was a little less common by going through some trees. I'm not sure how it turned out.
This was one of the trails that led off from the main route.
I thought this was quite a funny looking flower.
I heard some rustling and found this guy which gave me quite a fright; he did not seem too happy.

That is lovely selection of pictures of Mt Lofty botanic garden. It seems to be really huge and I believe for families this is an entertainment for the whole day, especially once you are with children, you can really make picnics and also the same time learn a lot about different trees and flowers. The variety of flowers is astonishing. Love the colours and unusual shape oft them. Also you were lucky to see few animals . When I compare with our local botanic garden then it is quite small, although also many different vegetations and also even tropic house as well as desert house for cacti. Enjoyed your photo-journey !
Thanks, it was quite a big place, but a desert house sounds really interesting. I would love to see something like that.

I love visiting botanical gardens. It is always such a nice experience. So many trees, exotic plants and flowers. I like that this one is situated in such a nice place. It looks like it was part of the forest. How much time did you spend there?
I like those flower pictures. The first one is the most interesting. It doesn't even look like a flower - more of a strange insect :)
Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your curie vote!
Thanks, we didn't get to stay to long as we arrived late and the car park was to close in about two hours I believe. So pretty much just went around in a bit of a hurry :)

This is an amazing post showing so many wonderful and beautiful things. I haven't been to a botanical garden for years and just shows what I am missing. The vibrant colors and array of flowers are fantastic and glad you had a great day out. I love the angry looking Kangaroo to finish and it is great to see them enjoying the gardens as well.
Thanks,
I find it's always nice to go and see somewhere like that, especially when there are not many people as it can be quite peaceful and calm :)

hi @izzydawn
wow amazing place! absolutely to put in the list of places to visit soon! are you lucky enough to live in australia? The photo of the kangaroo is wonderful! but how are these animals? Are they afraid of man or can you get close?
Congratulations and thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks,
We are lucky enough to live here. The Grey Kangaroo can be quite friendly if raised up nice, but some of the big reds can pick a fight.

very nice! I really want to see one!! :-))
I'm smiling here by my own because looking at your photos I wanted to say it looks like autumn, then I've checked out where Mt Lofty is exactly and bingo! 😁 Although the cute kangaroo led me to believe I'm right.
After a long and gray winter (I live in Europe), it's nice to see so much green ans do many beautiful flowers in one place. Some of them are known to me, the others are new to me but they are all very nice. You've managed to take some amazing photos, congratulations!
Yup it's autumn :)
I can't say I recognized many of the flowers to be honest, but it's quite nice to see green instead of yellow as most things die in the heat here.

I guess each region has its good things and bad things as well.
These ones always reminded me of fireworks.
They do a bit don't they.

Hahaha. That cangaroo looks like it was ready for a fight.
What a beautiful place. Such a variety of flowers.
I loved the pinkish (?) bunch under the funny-looking flower. Are those hydrangeas. We call them Hortensias over here. Gorgeous flowers.
How close is the city? It does not look like many people visit it.
I guess it is better that way. But it should be enjoyed by as many as possible.
Any dangerous animals there, besides the chest-pumping cangaroo?
It's not to far from the city actually, however, we do have a botanic gardens in the city as well. I guess there is always a chance you could get snakes or spiders almost anywhere in Adelaide. I didn't see any while I was there so hopefully not too many.
