In addition to the orb weaving spider, I was able to gather additional shots of insects, some of which have the ability to fly. There is not many things that are more difficult than capturing a subject that does not like to sit idle. However, I was lucky enough to get multiple macro shots of such.
The first set are of a butterfly lying on asphalt:
The second set is of a skimmer that was resting on a plant. They are rather skinny, so its always hard to spot them:
The next shot is of a thread wasted wasp gnawing on a branch in the bright sunlight:
The next shot is of a dragonfly that flew in and rested upon a dead and leafless plant:
The last shot is of a different type of orb weaver spider than the starbellied weaver posted earlier. This one was significantly smaller and the web was only roughly 3 or 4 inches tall and wide:

The butterfly is amazing! Usually around here we only get the monarch variety. I don't think I have seen one with that much color in a long time. Short of going to the local butterfly house that is :) Great shots!
