Carving pumpkins for Halloween in England is a fairly new idea. Originally turnips were used instead; I used to carve turnips as a child and it was so much more difficult! Traditional Jack o Lanterns often have scary faces carved into them however I see pumpkin carving as a creative opportunity and like to try out different designs and ideas to make pumpkins come to life!
