Under an intense blue sky, in the middle of the beautiful mountains southwest of the city of Trujillo, is the largest statue of Latin America, the Monument of the Virgin of Peace, better known as the Monument to Peace. Place where there is a large number of tourists and locals because this is the most visited space in the state capital, as well as being considered Cultural Historical Heritage.

The Marian Monument, reaches 46.72 meters high, 16 meters wide, 18 deep at the base and about 1200 tons. It was built in 18 months in honor of the appearance of the Virgin Mary. It has five viewpoints, from where visitors can appreciate a beautiful panoramic view of the entity, as well as part of the Sierra Nevada National Park and the south of Lake Maracaibo.
On the outskirts of the great Virgin, there are green areas where you can enjoy a wonderful view and a park for children. There is also a small chapel for parishioners who bring promises to the Most Holy. The Monument is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but can be up only until 4:30 p.m.

This work designed by the sculptors Manuel de la Fuente and Rosendo Camargo was inaugurated on December 21, 1983. The Peace Monument, shows the Virgin Mary in a blue robe holding a white dove in her right hand, symbolizing a petition of peace for Venezuela
