Mountains in the Morning Light / Berge im Morgenlicht

As the sun rose higher, I could see from the Hochstadel mountain to the Italian Dolomites in South Tyrol. How the mountains, which can be seen here, are called? No idea.

Als die Sonne höher stieg, konnte ich vom Hochstadel bis zu den Italienischen Dolomiten nach Südtirol sehen. Wie die Berge, welche hier zu sehen sind, heißen? Keine Ahnung :)

I am viewing from the Hochstadel peak to the east over the Lesachtal in the direction of the Drei Zinnen / Tre Cime Nature Park, which should actually be located behind the higher mountain range further back in the middle of the picture..

Meine Blickrichtung ist vom Hochstadel nach Osten über das Lesachtal in Richtung Naturpark Drei Zinnen, welcher sich eigentlich hinter dem hohen Gebirgszug weiter hinten in Bildmitte befinden sollte.

Ich hatte an diesem richtig Glück mit dem Wetter - keine Wolke am Himmel, nur die Fernsicht war etwas diesig, aber trotzdem wunderschön.

So wunderschön! Südtirol steht wohl seit Jahrzehnten auf meiner Bucketlist. Aber da steht halt leider auch so viel anderes... Trotzdem hoffe ich, es bald einmal nach Südtirol zu schaffen!

Durchgefahren bin ich schon oft, aber direkt in den Bergen dort war ich eigentlich auch noch nie - die Drei Zinnen stehen aber für nächstes Jahr auf meiner Bucket List ;)

Hey, you're catching up, my friend - is Mrs. J at work? 😉

Yes, there are people living on the mountain pastures, but mostly only during the Summertime, when they have their cattle and sheep and other farm animals up there. And there are cabins / restaurants and hotels, where tourists, hikers and climbers can eat and stay over night.

Well that sounds like a wonderful area to visit. In the summertime. lol.

In the Winter there is too much snow to get to most destinations there. Also in Austria many alpine roads are closed in Winter because the snow is up to 20 meters high (60 feet).

60 feet???!!!! Holy moly sir johannpiber! dang. Do people use snow mobiles to get around? A cabin would have to be up on the side of a mountain so it wouldn't get buried in snow, right?

On some places the snow is that high ...

... but as I said, these roads are closed in Winter and nobody is living up there. Of course, there are other roads, which people can use.
