No, it's because it's freezing. I don't surf, but I have swum a few times. Even with a swim shirt it is so cold. I wish I had bought a long sleeved top. It helps to take the sting out of the cold water.
Yip I remember Noordhoek water is damn cold. Thanks for the upvote. By the way upvoting on posts older than 6,5 days has no value. I used to also make that mistake. Whereabouts in CT are you based? I lived in many places around CT and Arniston and Hermanus. I left for Ireland back in 2007. I was in Bergvliet before departing.
I know. I realised it afterwards, but I there was no point in retracting it LOL! I'm on the west coast. I don't know how much you remember or know this newer area out here. I'm close to the Blaauwberg Hospital.
I had a buddy called Mike out in I think Big Bay. He was heavy into kite surfing. I've only been there a couple of times so I don't know Blaauwberg that well. Okay I did visit the Blue Peter pub a couple of times but that is just a blur. I just googled the hospital so I see where that is. I woke up this morning to see that my starting delegation steem has gone. Time for another strategy again. I left in 2007 as I had had enough of the crime. Car stolen, business cleaned out and mugged. There is crime here but I have yet to witness any in my 10 years. I also spent 3 years in the UK and 1 year in Malta. Otherwise no complaints. How's the water shortages effecting you? We have tons here. Cheers.
I'm not far from both Big Bay and Blue Peter. Perhaps 3-4 kms. I don't find the crime bad here. I left Johannesburg partly because of the filth and crime.
The drought is a worrying issue. We've cut back to the bare minimum. I collect three buckets from the shower to use them to flush, but I've been doing that before the restrictions started. I wish other people had, but people always think it is someone else's problem until it isn't. Then they panic.
I'm close enough to the ocean, so that at worst we will have to drive down to the beach to get saltwater LOL! Hopefully, we will have an unusually wet summer.
The world is supposed to be heading into the worse of a mini ice age cycle. It would be interesting to see how this will effect SA. Isn't the influx of people from other parts of SA also adding to the water problem? It's probably Jacob's fault as he probably insists on his swimming pool being full at all times LOL. His 6 elephants need their daily splash. Or is it 7? Hope things improve soon dude. PS What will drive you insane faster? Living in SA or drinking salt water? Have a great day.
I see some of those massive waves and boy it's scary. I often photograph them when I go down to the beach. I admire surfers who go out in the freezing angry water. I'd rather really drive fast for the thrill.
Hello @joroderick ex Capetonian here. Is it to look cool?

Next year I am investing in a rubber suit! We have had great waves this winter!
