Enjoying the Easter sun, while grilling hotdogs on the campfire..
Hello Steemit friends! It's been 10 days (!!) since I've posted anything here on Steemit, so it's about time. How have you been? Did you have an awesome Easter? I sure did. I've been working a lot of night shifts, but since it was sleeping-night-shifts, I was able to spend the day how I wanted.
We've had perfect weather conditions these last couple of days, so I spent most of my time outside. Easter break, means also that my friends come home for a while, which I love. We decided to spend a day in the mountains, grilling and talking. We didn't want to go hiking, but we did want to build a campfire, roast some marshmallows and hotdogs. So, we drove up to a place where everyone else starts their hike, and walked for 3 minutes before we found the perfect spot to build our campfire.
We had the perfect ocean view, no one else nearby, and talked for hours. We Norwegians have many weird Easter traditions. "Everybody" normally spends their Easter at a cabin up in the mountains where they go skiing all day. We eat hotdogs, marshmallows, oranges, and Kvikklunsj (a type of chocolate, almost like a Kitkat) like we haven't eaten all year, we drink hot chocolate and Solo (a Norwegian yellow soda), and answers Påske-quizzes (Easter quiz) like our lives depended on it. And we love it.
Since I had to work, we had to make the most of it. And we sure did. This day goes down in history as one of the best days of my life. We made a lot of good memories this day, and I'm so happy I have a lot of them on camera, and I wanted to share some of them with you guys.
These are my weird friends, showing of their hotdogs, Solo, and Kvikklunsj.. We felt like real Norwegians that day, and we bought way too much food and snacks.. We also made twist bread to roast on the fire. It's been such a long time since I've eaten that, and it was delicious. Easy to make, and easy to bring on a hike.
Bringing my gorillapod and a remote control was a great idea. We were then able to take pictures together. If you want to take pictures together and don't have anyone to do it for you, buy a gorillapod and a remote control (or just use a self-timer), it's a real game changer. You don't have to find weird spots for your camera, and you can adjust the camera angle how you want it. You can also wrap it around a tree if you want. I bring mine wherever I go.
Speaking of the sun setting, it got really cold really fast. So I'm glad we were prepared and brought warm jackets (and even a blanket). By the way, getting to shoot portraits, candid and normal, is so much fun. I've really found my passion. I love every part of photography.
I don't think Heléna was cold anymore.. That jacket looks so comfortable, and I think I could've slept in it.
I shot this right before we went home. We had to extinguish the fire, so we got a lot of smoke, and that's how I got this shot. I really like it.
I hope you enjoyed my post, and I hope you had an awesome Easter. I have a lot more photos to share with you. I did some hiking higher up in the mountains with my mom, and I can't wait to share them with you.
