Austin-TX itself is a unique place and it is worth every second of the visit.
Right before New Year's Eve, I had the opportunity to visit the Capitol. I had never been there before and was really impressed by the building architecture and history. I really enjoy seeing and learning about "old things".
Details on the building are incredible.

I am from Brazil and moved to Texas about a year ago. Have been to Austin many times, but never got the chance to go to the Capitol. Loved it!
