Small all pebble Long Island Sound beach not far from Orient Point.

Don't know where the name came from but East Marion the town it resides in comes from Francis Marion, " the Swamp Fox" of Revolutionary fame.

Walking east along the beach has Long Island Sound to the right and Dam Pond to the left.
The Bay area south of and east of Dam pond is called "The Oyster Ponds". Named by early English settlers who harvested and sold the Oysters.

Looking West // Long Island Sound on the right ...

Further down the beach separates the Sound from Dam Pond, forming a narrow beach ...

Houses before and on far side of Pond have access to the beach. As you can see some of their makeshift beach furniture.
As long as we don't go above the high water line we are not trespassing.

Lots of drift wood, both big and small /

Beach is all pebble stone, not nice to walk on barefoot /

I knew there would be a good chance to run into some Osprey that migrate up here from Central and South America. Majestic birds with up to 6 foot wingspans /

A perfect place for their nests with the Ruth Oliva Preserve bordering part of the Pond /

Sort:

Love the osprey in flight shots. I'm envious! I'm hoping to find some nearby to try my hand at it along with the Pelicans.

Telephoto helps but they were right over head for the close shots.

Been great walking with you Mike. I did not even break a sweat here.

Maybe no sweat but how about a little wind .. 🤣
