Perching on castle walls, watching the cities come to life with the sunset, medieval architecture alongside walks along golden sandy shorelines and shallow torquoise water.My summer experience in Cyprus has definitely been nothing short of incredible.
This summer I visited Nicosia, Girne and Famagusta; three very important cities in Cyprus with 19 amazing people from 15 countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Jordan, Egypt, France, Nigeria, Zimbabwe , Canada, Austria, and Singapore).
Cyprus being the third largest island in the world has really long history and cultures that goes back 10000 years making it one of the oldest civilisations in the Mediterranean. I was exposed to rich and deeply rooted history and cultures coveted by empires across centuries as well as a myriad of archaeological sites and beautiful beaches each having its own uniqueness.
One of the most amazing experience for me was going camping with the aforementioned 19 people on Golden beach in Karpaz Peninsula (the unspoiled area of Cyprus).The camp experience brought us all together as we got to talk about ourselves, learnt each other's different cultures,built tents, cooked together and played lots of interesting games(Despite the Cyprus heat which was 37 degrees at the time).

After a really fun experience I decided to write a poem I titled home which talks about the wonderful experiences I had with the 19 amazing people and how much I do miss them.
HOME
We've sieged a legion of castles,each with a story to tell
Some with a whimper, some with a yell
Our soles have kissed a thousand stairs, each one bringing us closer to hell(Cypriot Sun lol)
In a circle of trust we shared our hopes and dreams
The sand man hovering over us, wishing it'd never end
Streams of laughter watering our deepest fears
With salty waters to dilute our whims, time flowing by with every swim
Under a chandelier of heaven's dancing lanterns, crossed legged in an authentic Cypriot sand carpet
We all shared a piece of home, by so making this our own
Swollen heavy eyes that awaited your landing, now swell up with memory and a bit of redding
The warmth of all our hearts that fend the cold when we we tenting, boil with the ecstasy of us having befriended
Nineteen torrents came into my life like whirlwinds, and like gales they blow their ships homeward
I am thankful for you stepping on my welcome mat, l'll leave the door open for you to sail back
