This is a tormentil (Potentilla erecta), from the rose family. The flowers are only 1cm (0.4") across, but Very Yellow.
The plant likes a bit of acidity, so it feels right at home in the higher parts of the peat bog where I took this photo.

It has some interesting medicinal uses, mainly against pain and inflammations, and a red dye can be produced from its root.
More importantly, it is the key ingredient of an herbal liqueur produced in Bavaria, called Blutwurz, after the plant 8-).
I have some very similar one in my photo collection ( yellow flowers on a died grass:))
