City light through a window - own work

in #photography10 years ago (edited)

I highly recommend clicking the image for the larger version, because it won't look right in this field of white.

Produced from shutter to print by me, credit due to Kodak for providing the film, paper, and chemicals though :)

I really like the image, the way the light contrasts with the dark and suggests activity and life happening just the other side. But the image stirs darker emotions too, like regret and yearning because the subject is in the dark and cannot observe the source of light directly. To me it is suggestive of memory....the looking back at happy times and regret for what is passed. I have no idea if you intended the photo to portray any of that? It was certainly thought provoking.

Thanks, the contrast is what I was going for. It wasn't until I printed the image that I saw the cool rippling of the light through the old-school window pane. It's reminiscent of water ripples and to me kinda makes it feel rainy-noir. I didn't intend much hidden artistic meaning behind the photo. I saw that two light sources shining through the same window were producing an interesting geometric double-image, and captured it. Thanks for sharing what it provoked in you though! You could be an art writer :)

Love it!

Thanks man! Praise from Steemit photog-Caesar. :)
