Iceland From The Archives #4 - First Day Evening

Hi Friends!

Continuing the trip through Iceland - if You haven't seen the introducion post for this trip, take a look here:
https://peakd.com/photography/@photovisions/iceland-from-the-archives-1-preparations-for-the-travel

Here is a small gallery from my first day on the island - I have to say it again - these shots were made with my smartphone Huawei P30 Pro which I used as my extra camera to record the moments my commentary.

All the shots from my "big" proper camera was publiszed a long time ago :). These shots were prepared just to fill up some gaps in the story and to use some of them with my video relation from this journey which will appear on my yt channel soon...

After leaving the area of southern coast of Reaykjanes penninsula I head towards the West to reach the next interesting location called Seltún Geothermal Area and place Krísuvík.

On my way I was very impressed of how huge and vast are the old volcanic fields on the way.
The way is straight and plain, You are driving over 100km/h and don't even feel the speed. the open landscape is amazing - like from another planet... anyway - whole Iceland is like an another planet ;).

Krísuvík is a hot springs in a geothermal area - well prepared touristic place with large parking place, toilets, foot paths and all the information screens.

The smell was... strong, my first contact with such a strong sulfur scent was hard. It was impossible to avoid breathing it but thanks to the wind, it was possible to walk there.

The colours of the rocks, minerals, small fumaroles was just beautiful, magical...

After exploration of this area it was late enough to go to my sleeping destination which was the free camping nearby called Strandakirkja Camping.

First night was cold and windy - after this night I decided I have to buy a warmer sleeping bag. My roof tent on the car was very comfortable but had also a good ventilation which allor the cold air to go inside especially during strong wind... and after this trip I must say - it is windy on Iceland all the time.

After the night I organized myself, used a local bathroom and head towards the next full of explorations day...

PRO Tip here:

on this camping ground is a kitchen area where other tourists leave their extra food and gas for the camping stove, probably on the way back to the airport. I also left a lot of extra food and gas cans which I didn't use on my last day before reaching the Keflavik airport.
This camping ground is called Strandakirkja Camping

All of that in my next post so stay tuned :).
