Lunar Friday

People are driven by different desires to consume. For some it is money; others food; clothes, homes or cars; you extroverts love to accumulate friends and followers. What we desire is often linked to what we feel we lack or that there can never be enough of.

Something we are afraid we might run out of.

Been under the sun and paired with the moon for some time now. Us HIVE old-timers are often designated has having many moons of experience. Well I got a whole slew of phases, eclipse and tides, under my star-studded belt.

It turns out that after my stomach is full and my body soundly roofed, what I desire is the collection of more knowledge. I love to learn and gain tremendous contentment studying.

I know. Nerd Nerd Nerd.

One of my passions for accumulation is astronomy. Our local planetarium has a biweekly show that is a great way to keep current with all things space.

Minime shares my passion for the Cosmos, if not all things studying; so we are frequent visitors to our Vancouver space center, and it always a little easier to get him to settle down and focus when we are delving into astro-themed learning. The Grade 8 Canadian Curriculum book had us branching out to China and a look at their first human in space, Liwei.

From our studies ...

Yang Liwei dreamed of flying since he was a kid. He grew up to become an astronaut with CNSA, the China National Space Administration.

Liwei would grow to surpass his dreams of flying, going beyond the sky and into spaaace. He would eventually find his Wei to space after many years of determined hard work and achievements. Aboard China's Shenzhou 5, he rocketed through the stratosphere and into orbit, becoming the first Chinese citizen in space.

On June 21 1965, Yang Liwei was born in Liaoning, China. At school, he did well in sciences. After graduating from school, he signed up for the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in September of 1983. In 1987, he completed his training from the Number 8 Aviation collage and became a fighter pilot with the PLA Air Force.

Liwei began the screening process for astronauts in 1996 and was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1998. For the next five years, he and 13 other candidates would undergo the strenuous training it would take to safely go into space at the Astronaut Training Base in Beijing. With the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was launched into space on October 15, 2003.

Upon returning successfully to Earth, Liwei was promoted to colonel and, on November 7 2007, given the tittle of "Space Hero" from the chairman of the Central Military Commission of China.

The following year on July 2, 2008, he was promoted to major general. As a high-ranking member of the CNSA, he shows the Wei to space for future astronauts.

The moon shines
Only in darkness
Only when it faces the sun

There are times
The earth blocks the moon
From the sun
Then too, the earth
Is in darkness

The moon knows
The earth knows
To welcome the dark
To welcome the rest

It is the natural way of things
Soon there will be light

The earth knows
To welcome the glow of the moon
Then too it has light in the dark

Shine when the Tao asks you to shine
Bask in the glow of others
Rest when the Tao has given you darkness

Always glad to see your peotry and flowers photography. All these orange flowers looks so beautiful.

Always such beautiful flowers in your post! I love it! The study of the cosmos is so fascinating, I still remember the first time I saw the Andromeda galaxy as a kid. It sticks with you when you realize how big the universe is and we live on such a tiny planet. Great post!

Andromeda is incredibly beautiful.

Thank you:)

I actually love the close up photos of the little flower inside the orange flower
It looks amazing
Nice one!
