Exploration Through The Ozarks

After just one week of being on the road with my little camper I've somehow managed to completely trash the place! Just kidding, this is not a shot of the camper in my Toyota.

This is a frame I captured from someone’s abandoned trailer home tucked deep into the Ozark hills, a scene that evoked a Blaire Witch-esque tone to the exploration. With winter’s season upon us, all the trees are bare, leaving otherwise hidden locations visible to the explorer’s lens. I was so surprised to find so many broken down and abandoned structures scattered throughout the Southern hills of the United States. Fall's shedding of leaves and the opening up of the forests to the hunting eye of the explorer sounds convenient at first, but it does have its drawbacks. After an autumn shed, the forest floor is now covered in broken sticks and dead leaves, which makes an approach on a seemingly abandoned structure quite loud and risky, because if there were animals hiding in rafters, bears hibernating beneath rotting trailer beds, or someone still living or squatting on the premise, they would hear a person approaching from a hundred yards away. I can only imagine how many lost and decrepit structures are scattered throughout these wooded hills, some I’m sure, still considered home to certain transient folk. .
