Chicken is a name given to the meat obtained from Poultry. Chicken can be prepared and enjoyed in different ways. It can be boiled and eaten with soup. It can be eaten with rice as pepper-soup by making a very tasty sauce with it. It can also be fried. Still, it can be roasted and still enjoyed in ecstasy.
However, today, I'm going to concentrate on the roasted form of the chicken.
Roasted chicken is very famous in Western parts of Africa especially Nigeria. It is normally sold by the roadsides and it are prepared in such a way that it wears a golden appealing look.
This meat is prepared and served with plantain which is a popular biennial crop in this part of the world. Plantain blooms in the rainy season (winter) but storage facilities ensure that it is available all year round.
These two combination makes a perfect match and it is sold mostly in the evenings.
The cost of a well-prepared piece of chicken costs an equivalent of between 30 and 90 cents while the the plantain costs just 30 cents. This makes this food quite affordable.
Roasted chicken is usually enjoyed with a bottle of softdrink or beer according to personal choice.
