I have been a hairstylist for 10 years and the internet has been a game changer for my business. I started a weekly portfolio on my Instagram and have been watching it slowly grow. I decided to make myself take a portrait at least once a week. If I am on vacation I will post some cool outtakes. I realize my photo game has to improve but I can visually see it the changes as I look at my Instagram. I have gotten lots of new clients from my photos who think my hair shots look amazing. I feel the photos could get better and I keep continuing my education on hair cutting and coloring as well.
In the past a growing business meant referrals from within and now it is who has a cooler portfolio and reviews on Yelp or Google. I am happy for the changes because I get more exposure as an artist. I get new clients who come in every week at this point that say ‘I found you online.’ I knew learning photography would help but not as much as it has. Here are pics of some of my latest. I look forward to getting better at all the things.
