MY FIVE 110 | Photography | Travel | Peru | Machu Picchu | The Intihuatana Sundial

Here are more photos from Machu Picchu in Peru featuring the The Intihuatana Sundial which translates "where the sun is tied down." The sundial was carved from a single huge granite rock. How it was made defies scientific explanation. It is not fully known what it was used for but it is theorist that it was used to determine the equinoxes and likely used in religious ceremonies related to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Father Sun. Enjoy!

Amazing photoes. Am sure these rocks would be as hard as nail.

And some of them are fitted so well you can't put a hair between them. It defies imagination how they were done.

That's great. We all love to see wonders.

Wish you the best in your contest.
