Creativity is full of emotions. Events, interactions, or even our own thoughts can trigger emotions.
But emotions are not just something that happens to us.
We are not at the mercy of our emotions, powerless to do anything about them.
This is not to deny that there are some situations so strong that we end up being pulled like puppets by emotions they elicit..

Emotional intelligence is the ability to reason with and about emotions, and intentionally affect our emotions and those of others around us.
Perceiving emotion in oneself and others, using emotions in the service of thinking and problem solving, understanding likely causes and consequences of different emotions, and influencing the course of one’s emotions and helping to regulate emotions of others around us.
Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.
E.I is generally said to include at least three skills: emotional awareness, or the ability to identify and name one’s own emotions; the ability to harness those emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving; and the ability to manage emotions, which includes both regulating one’s own emotions when necessary and helping others to do the same.

There is no validated psychometric test or scale for emotional intelligence as there is for "g," the general intelligence factor—and many argue that emotional intelligence is therefore not an actual construct, but a way of describing interpersonal skills that go by other names.
An emotionally intelligent individual is both highly conscious of his or her own emotional states, even negativity—frustration, sadness, or something more subtle—and able to identify and manage them.
These people are also especially tuned in to the emotions others experience. It’s easy to see how a sensitivity to emotional signals from within and from the social environment could make one a better friend, parent, leader, or romantic partner. Fortunately, these skills can be honed.
Having greater emotional intelligence can help you in almost any interpersonal situation where it’s important to read others and plan your actions accordingly.
When it comes to intimate relationships you similarly can benefit from the qualities of the transformative leader. The people who love you might also be the most forgiving of your mistakes, but they will also be the most appreciative of the ways you can inspire them to feel hopeful and successful themselves.
Perceive and understand the emotions of others around you.
This ability means that you are sensitive to how others are feeling.
Regulate your own emotion.
Regulating your emotions means that you are able to keep them under control, especially when you’re feeling distressed.
Use emotion to maximize performance.
Directing your emotions toward constructive activities allows you to use them to use them to optimal advantage.
