Photo Post - Own Work - "Contemplation"

in #photography10 years ago (edited)

This shot was taken with a single beauty dish and grid combination which creates a very focussed "spotlight" kind of effect - a powerful natural vignette (this was all in camera).

I love the vividness of the colours - the reds and blacks which create a crisp contrast - both warmth and dark combining and mixing.

I also like the pose and the question of what the model is actually contemplating in this moment.

The model is Axel Von Rosencoff.

@thecryptofiend By now you know if a post from me is short, it means I haven't put much thought into it. However I've been struggling for words on this one. Only one I can find and it doesn't do the subject matter justice...
Stunning!

Thank you. You are very kind:)

Hey @thecryptofiend what kind of camera are you shooting with? I'm interested in getting a camera for photos instead of using my phone, is there anything entry level you would recommend for under $500?

It's a Nikon D800 but to be honest you don't need such an expensive camera. Any entry level DSLR should be fine - the lenses are more important. If you want to shoot portraits an 85mm/1.8 prime is usually easy to get quite cheap second hand. In fact you could probably get one of those and a second hand DSLR together in your budget. Use those to learn and later if you decide you really love it then look at more expensive stuff.

What do you want to shoot? That will really guide your lens type more.

@inkha - Forgot to add I would go with either Canon or Nikon if you are buying (either new or second hand) because they are the commonest types of SLR that people use - it will give you a much bigger choice of lenses (used and new) and you can get better deals for them. There are people that swear by more niche brands but it might end up costing you a lot more and be harder to get lenses. The great thing about Canon and Nikon is that they are everywhere and that also means that accessories like batteries etc are also cheaper and easier to get hold of.

Very good shot. the young lady is perfect for the shot.

Love the energy and vignette effect in this shot. Superb!

Thank you so much:)
