When you see a paramotorist and a fabric wing lying on the ground, it is often asked, "How do you take off with that thing?"
Well actually, you typically layout the wing behind you in the grass with all of its lies separated out to the risers, which are the connection point to the paramotor harness. If setup to launch with a 'forward' launch, you hold these risers out to the side, and run forward, pulling the wing up behind you and over your head. With just the right subtle pulls of the brake lines as it launches and gets overhead, you can then start to run and accellerate under the wing, gaining speed and within just a few seconds, getting enough lift to take off, simply running in to the AIR!
Its quite exhilliarating at takeoff, and it only takes a few seconds to get airborne and up into the seat comfortable in the air. For me, its typically about 15 minutes to setup and inspect the aircraft, lay it out and then launch.
