Had some incredible conditions out cross skiing the sheep river when it finally warmed up on the weekend. An hours drive west into the coming warm temperatures put me in the mountains and took me from -20degC to +1degC, which was a welcome surprise.
The views were stunning, the snow was perfect and not a sole other than us on the river.
A good log for a late afternoon snack and rest.
Endless perfect snow on the river.
Great to have the blue skies as well.
This was a cool spot in the canyon. A breather hole we could hear the water flowing, but still frozen 2 feet deep around it.
I've climbed part of this waterfall with a friend and its a popular ice climb, but no sign of anyone on it lately. The picture doesn't show it, but its about 90' high, so a great walls for beginner ice climbers.
Hot Chocolate time.
This side creek (Coal creek) is completely flooded today andwater flowing down the creek on top of the ice. It would be perfect to come back in a few days after this freezes up and do some curling or skating on it. Hmm, maybe this weekend...
A great day for pics and skiing, looking forward to getting out again.
